We're getting another dumpster, baby!

Yeah, I know. You're jealous.
Phase II of work has begun! Our carpenter got started today working on some structural stuff upstairs and removing the rest of an old chimney running through our kitchen. (Brian removed the 2nd floor section of this chimney - see May 17th post.) There will soon be a beam running through the space where the chimney once was to help support our roof.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Someone else's memory that is... Ok, so I know it's been a while. There really wasn't anything all that exciting to report over the last few weeks. But, since I didn't want our readership to wane, I thought I'd share some history. This is a photo of our house from 1881 (yep, the one with the red box around it). Not a great view of it. Back then, it was a one story structure. In 1910, a second story was added on and the house was "Tudor-ized". The houses on either side of ours are still here and pretty much look the same. Our neighbor (the one on the corner) actually has a framed and matted copy of this photo that she showed to us soon after we moved in. After sifting through photos and books at the historical society and the public library, we finally found a very nice librarian who helped us track it down and scanned it for us.
