Wow. So much has happened in one week. Our carpenter is working fast! The chimney is out. Various structural elements to support our roof are in. Here's the view looking down the chimney space from the second floor (you can see the beam running down to the first floor that will eventually run all the way down to the basement). The idea of sending a little parachuting army dude down the chute is very tempting...
Now we have to decide things like where we want the ceiling height for the new rooms. The master bedroom area has some really cool roof lines, so we're trying to figure out how to best showcase them and not end up with something too funky.
Brian took a sledgehammer to the old cast iron tub in the upstairs bath. He didn't take any pictures, though. :( Bummer. Not much left up there now. This is a shot of the old bathroom space. The rest of the flooring is out now. What you see between the joists is the old plaster ceiling over the kitchen. Brian is knocking it down from above as I type.
